Three Talks from Visiting Order Members:
15th Jan: ‘What Buddhism Isn’t’ – Sangharuchi
22nd Jan: ‘Spiritual Friendship and Death’ – Dhammakumara
29th Jan: ‘The Coincidence of Wills’ – Maitripala
The new year brings new visitors to the Adelaide Sangha. Over the course of the next three weeks we have three Order Members visiting us, each presenting on different themes.
This coming Tuesday 15th Jan we have Sangharuchi visiting us all the way from the UK, exploding some common misconceptions about Buddhism under the title ‘What Buddhism Isn’t!’.
Following that on Tuesday 22nd Dhammakumara will relate the story of the Buddha and Ananda’s final journey together before the Buddha’s death, and unpack what the story tells us about the spiritual friendship between them. Relating this it to his own experience of the recent death of Sangharakshita and other close spiritual friends, he will explore what we can learn from this and how it could affect our own attitudes to life, death, and spiritual practice.
And on Tuesday 29th Maitripala returns to share a very special experience of the Bodhicitta, the ‘Will to Enlightenment’, an experience transdending both the individual and the group. This arose at the time of her visit to Adhisthana, Triratna’s retreat centre in the UK, at the time of the death and funeral of our founder, Bhante Sangharakshita.
All are welcome. Each evening begins with a session of meditation with guidance available for newcomers.
